Copenhagen Climate Change Conference Dec 7 – Dec 18 2009
On December 7 – 18, more than 80 head of states are expected to congregate at Copenhagen, Denmark for an all important climate change conference. The road to Copenhagen started in Bali in December 2007 when the UN set a deadline for a global agreement on emission target on post 2012.
Significance – What happen in the 2 weeks of climate change conference will be significance in terms of the progress of regional cooperation and governmental policies. We are now seeing governments with electoral mandates committed to tackling emissions.
Details – International level negotiations are seldom detailed enough for specific changes to be implemented. Further rectifications of any agreements by 2012 will be more meaningful for any actions on the ground.
